Overview
The Department undertakes research and monitors developments and activity in the Queensland building industry in order to support the department’s role in the planning and delivery of government building projects. The Department also coordinates or facilitates research and development initiatives to support the building industry including the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation.
Building Industry Bulletin
Produced quarterly since September 2004, the Building Industry Bulletin provides information on the latest trends within the Queensland building industry as relevant to the activities of the Department of Public Works.
Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation
A world-class research flagship for the Australian building and construction industry is based in Brisbane, with the Department of Public Works a project partner.
More than $60 million will be invested in the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation over eight years, drawn largely from the federal sphere with state government and industry backing.
The CRC program is a federal initiative that provides the business community the opportunity to collaborate with research institutions and undertake R&D relevant to industry needs.
The CRC for Construction Innovation, the only Building and Construction Sector CRC to be selected to date, commenced on 1 July 2001 and combines the three core programs of research listed below with an advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platform.
Business and Industry Development;
Sustainable Built Assets; and
Delivery and Management of Built Assets.
