Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation
A world-class research flagship for the Australian building and construction industry is based in Brisbane, with the Department of Public Works a project partner.
About $60 million will be invested in the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation over seven years, drawn largely from the federal sphere with state government and industry backing.
The CRC program is a federal initiative that provides the business community the opportunity to collaborate with research institutions and undertake R&D relevant to industry needs.
The CRC for Construction Innovation, the only Building and Construction Sector CRC to be selected to date, commenced on 1 July 2001 and combines basic research with strategic research and development in the following three related programs:
- Business and Industry Development;
- Sustainable Built Assets; and
- Delivery and Management of Built Assets.
The Construction Innovation CRC was one of 19 major research programs approved
nationally from a cull of 49 applications.
Other key research nodes of this CRC will be located in Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne.
