Smart and Sustainable Homes Design Objectives

Juggling aesthetics, functionality and site constraints while still trying to achieve the triple bottom line, can be challenging. However, by considering the Smart and Sustainable Homes Design Objectives at the earliest design stages of a house, triple bottom line solutions can be creatively integrated with the client's design objectives and site constraints.

The Smart and Sustainable Homes Design Objectives have been developed by the Department of Public Works to assist with developing a brief for a house and to demonstrate the range of viable solutions available to designers. Consumers can also benefit from this document by using it as a guide to simple design solutions that can be discussed with their building designer at the outset of a building project.
