Partnerships
Partnerships across Government agencies and key industry groups are forging the Smart Housing initiative ahead aiming to make it the housing standard for the future.
Smart and Sustainable Homes promotes good-practice in sustainable housing to the private sector by providing leadership and support. Partnerships are integral to the success of this initiative.
13 Queensland Government agencies have joined together to promote more sustainable housing design through a Smart Housing Partnership Agreement. They are:
- Building Services Authority
- Department of Child Safety
- Department of Local Government, Sport and Recreation
- Department of Housing
- Environmental Protection Agency
- Department of Communities
- Department of Disability Services Queensland
- Department of Emergency Services
- Department of Health
- Department of Natural Resources and Water
- Department of Mines and Energy
- Queensland Police
- Royal Australian Institute of Architects to Australian Institute of Architects
Each agency contributes its own expertise, provides the Department of Public Works with advice and feedback about the initiative, promotes Smart and Sustainable Homes through their programs, and provides links to relevant organisations.
The Royal Australian Institute of Architects and the Building Designers Association of Queensland have also signed a Partnership Agreement with the Department of Public Works in support of Smart and Sustainable Homes.
Working together with the building industry to achieve more sustainable housing will ensure significant social, economic and environmental benefits for Queenslanders designing or renovating their home.
